Idaho Education Choice and Public Charter School Summit Tuesday, January 29, 2008 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Intermountain Gas Company Conference Center 555 South Cole Road – Boise Take part in a great program of timely topics and expert speakers! Lunch will be provided, registration is FREE, but you MUST register to attend! This gathering will be of interest to charter school parents, board members, administrators, education policy-makers, and anyone starting or sending their children to an Idaho Public Charter School. Topics will include: •The success of Idaho’s Charter Schools •Status of Educational Choice Policy in Idaho •2008 Legislative Issue preview Speakers include: •Governor Butch Otter (invited) •Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna •Charter Board Members •Idaho Legislative Leaders •Charter Commission Members At the conclusion of the Summit meeting, beginning at 2:30 PM, Shirley Rau and the Idaho Department of Education will conduct a one-hour Charter Start Seminar focusing on business planning for public charter schools. Shirley and the Department have done an incredible job with the ‘Charter Start 101’ program around the state, and this focused seminar will be of value to existing as well as starting charter schools. This is your opportunity to interact with parents, board members, policy makers, and political experts who share your passion for Idaho’s education choice movement. You will learn more about charter school successes and challenges, share ideas, and develop valuable relationships important to future success.
